Wouldn’t you know it — I woke up sick on Saturday morning and couldn’t join my buddies for our weekend round. I called them up and told them to drop by after the round to let me know how things went.

Well, it turned out that I missed a very exciting round.

On return from a golf junket to Australia, our fearless golf traveller falls victim to his worst nightmare — the flight is downed by lightning in a heavy storm at sea. After struggling to hold on as the storm rages through the night, Tom is eventually washed ashore on a deserted tropical island. A paradise under any other conditions, it has become a trap.

For many, St. Andrews Old Course is the equivalent of the Holiest of Holies for golf. A friend of mine was traveling in Scotland on business and decided to try to get a round in as a walk-on.
