It’s December 23rd. Only 2 more days until Christmas arrives. While I realize that there are many who do not celebrate Christmas, and many who do not celebrate the religious side of it, this is a special time for me and for my family.
There is the obvious excitement about gift giving and the arrival of Santa. We watch Ruldolf (several times 8-), It’s a Wonderful Life and many other Christmas classics. We listen to Christmas music — my favourite is Looking for Christmas by Clint Black. We’re also looking forward to the visiting and eating.
But under all of this is the real reason that I enjoy Christmas. This is the time that we celebrate the birth of Jesus. For me, this is a monumental occassion. It is amazing that the God of the universe would take on human form so that he might reach out to us. I know that many people do not believe this and I respect that. I grant that there is a possibility that it isn’t true, but it is what I believe. This inspires me with wonder and all other things fade in comparison.
I wish that each and every one of you will have a wonderful Holiday Season whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukka, Kwanzaa or just a winter holiday.
I wish the following for you all for the season and the new year:
- That you will have the best round of your life in the new year, and then another one after that!
- That you will blessed with a rich circle of friends both on and off the course.
- That you and your family will have a healthy and prosperous new year.
- That you will have peace and joy.
Merry Christmas
